Matt Striker … is the guy you want in your action thriller. You want to meet him. You need him. You like him. And you feel good around him. He has a humble yet competent way about him. He is tough, resourceful and highly trained as an anti-terrorist warrior, but he also has a friendly way (unless you are a bad guy. With bad guys, he is their nightmare). This is the kind of protagonist that keeps you reading the anti-terror thriller, keeps you engaged, keeps you on the edge of your seat…because while you know things are turning ugly, Matt is there for you.
There is a slight melancholy about Matt. He is a captive of his own competence. He feels the heavy weight of his kills but he cannot resist his responsibilities. In fact, he is hyper-vigilant and overly responsible. You want him on your side; you feel safe and secure when he is there. His presence calms you.
A regular life, like yours or mine, seems out of reach for Matt. He wants to have normal relationships. He wants to be soft sometimes. He wants Kate.
But protecting his country by doing his duty and living a normal life seem mutually exclusive. He is wrong about this. But he doesn’t know how to strike the balance.
Matt loves the out of doors and his Vermont cabin. He rides motorcycles and loves his old Jeep Cherokee. He is a former Army Ranger and Delta Force operator. Currently, he is assigned to the U.S. Marshals…for confidential reasons (revealed only to those that read the book). Contrary to what some have expressed, he is not the author’s alter ego. Not even close. Matt is a unique blend of real, actual anti-terrorist warriors. Matt is bigger than life; and the author finds working with this extraordinary man great fun and energizing.
You will love Matt Striker.
